how do I support a positive environment in the classroom?

Want to create a positive environment in the classroom?
The answer was simple. It starts with you! Be positive and and catch kids being good. It was amazing how something so simple truly changed any one's mindset! I love this little activity we do to help us remember!

Pennies For Our Thoughts: Keeping tally and spreading the positivity in the classroom!
Materials Needed: Five pennies, a window sill or pockets
The Process: Place five pennies on the left side of a window sill or in your left pants pocket.
The Procedure: Each time you give a positive comment or feedback to a child move one penny to the right of the window sill or pocket. Do this until all your pennies are moved to the right. Then the next day start fresh by moving your pennies back to the left side again!

Once I started this I became more conscious of what I said to children! Words have tremendous power to hurt or heal!

What was the best positive comment/compliment you've ever received?

What do you do with the pennies? Or could you use anything?
